These past three weeks have flown by. The first week I was able to see some old friends and hang out with them, while also working in the home as a nanny during the day.
My second week back, was Independence day—which turned out to be a week of celebrations. On one day, everyone from both of the homes dressed up in traditional Mayan clothes and had a celebration. This same week, also a new intern showed up— and I guess she is pretty cool.
But, this past week has definitely been the roughest. A child in the second home passed away on Monday.
Yasmin Isabella, came to us lust summer when I was here— and immediately I loved her deeply. She was one of the children I was most closely bonded to. She had a condition called hydranencephaly, which is where most or part of the brain doesn't develop and then the remaining space is filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
She was one of the children that we knew would not be with us long. She taught me more about God’s love than anyone ever has, and I loved that little girl with all my heart.
Last Sunday night we realized she was not doing well and she was most likely in liver failure. She passed on Monday, as her Parents, along with Taryn and I were gathered around her, and loving on her until she passed into Jesus’ arms.
As sad as I am to see her go, I know she is in a much better place and I will see her again.
The next morning we had a funeral service for her.
The rest of the this week has been a daze. So prayers would be appreciated for everyone here as we learn life without that beautiful little girl.
If you are interested in supporting me financially, you can through the www.hopeforhome.org. You just write for Kelsie Wester in the space.
Thanks so much for all my friends and families support.
